When to Keep Your Student at Home

Following California Education Code 48211, please keep your student home if they have any of the following symptoms:

  • A fever over 100°F

  • Open sores or signs of infection

  • Unexplained or contagious-looking rashes

  • Vomiting or diarrhea (morning of or overnight)

  • Persistent headache, stomachache, or earache

  • Red eyes with discharge

  • Head lice or visible nits

  • Persistent cough or difficulty breathing

  • General signs of illness or not feeling well enough to participate in school activities

Your help in keeping sick students home protects our school community and helps prevent the spread of illness.

Physical Education (P.E.) Excuse Guidelines

  • Parent Note: Students may be excused from P.E. for 3 days or less with a written note from a parent or guardian.

  • Doctor’s Note: If your student needs to be excused for more than 3 days, a note from a doctor is required.

  • Any medical device or appliance (e.g., crutches, slings, casts) must be accompanied by a physician’s note.

Students are expected to dress for and participate in P.E. unless their injury prevents participation.

If you have any questions about your student’s health needs or school health procedures, please contact our Health Office during school hours. We’re here to help your student stay healthy and ready to learn!
