Students from each school’s LGBTQ+ clubs and allies were invited to participate in the June 2 event, which was hosted by the District’s Equity, Access and Instructional Services Department and included workshops that allowed students to express themselves authentically.
They also had access to community resources and heard from special guest speakers who shared the challenges they’ve faced and as well as their journeys of self-discovery and empowerment.
“I’m so excited for our students to feel safe and accepted by our community,” said Francisco Flores, Class of 2023 graduate from Firebaugh High School and event organizer.
On June 1, Lynwood Unified raised the Progress Pride flag to commemorate Pride Month, stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and emphasize its ongoing commitment to foster inclusive, accepting and supportive environments for its diverse students, educators and staff.
