Lynwood Unified, in partnership with the National College Resources Foundation, hosted its first-ever summer STEAM Camp, providing rising seventh- and eighth-graders from Hosler and Cesar Chavez middle schools the opportunity to delve into coding, rocketry and more.
The camp, which took place July 24-27, engaged students in hands-on activities and workshops focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Participants explored fundamental concepts in fields such as physics, dissecting, coding and math through interactive experiments and projects. Students – who also built their own rockets and launched them into the sky – collaborated on team challenges that encouraged problem-solving, critical thinking and creativity.
The program heightened awareness of the existing offerings at both Hosler and Cesar Chavez middle schools, including Project Lead the Way courses in computer science, human anatomy, engineering, robotics, medical detectives and more.
