Lynwood Unified kicked off the 2023-24 school year by welcoming over 300 teachers and administrators to its annual Summer Institute, a three-day professional development opportunity in which educators strengthened instructional strategies for student success and increased their knowledge around topics relevant to today’s teaching and learning.
Themed Lynwood Palooza, the program, which took place Aug. 7-9 at Firebaugh High School, included keynote speakers and over 30 workshops designed with students’ greatest needs in mind. Topics ranged from how to differentiate instruction for English learners to social-emotional learning and equity in the classroom.
The event comes on the heels of the District, the Lynwood Teachers Association (LTA) and the California School Employees Association (CSEA) reaching agreements that provide teachers and classified staff 12% in ongoing raises, 12% in one-time bonuses and increased benefits for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years.
While the District continues to negotiate with SEIU, see the details on the agreements with LTA and CSEA by clicking here.
Lynwood Unified is fully appreciative of all of our dedicated educators who contribute every day to the educational excellence of our Lynwood scholars and the ongoing success of our District. We wish everyone an amazing start to the 2023-24 school year, which starts Wednesday, Aug. 16!
