With the sun beaming down on the track and sounds of cheers echoing from the stands, over 550 young athletes from across Lynwood Unified dashed, leaped and threw their way into the hearts of the community during the District’s annual Track and Field Meet on April 5.
Students from all 12 elementary and two middle schools eagerly signed up for the event earlier this school year. For months, these students trained under the guidance of dedicated coaches, preparing for the big day with hard work and heart.
Families, teachers and community members filled the stands at the Lynwood High School Imperial Campus, cheering as students competed in a variety of activities, including the long jump, softball throw and running challenges. The event not only showcased talent but reinforced dedication, discipline and school spirit among students.
Winners will be announced at students’ respective schools at a later date.
The District’s Track and Field program, established in the 2015-16 school year in collaboration with the City of Lynwood, has become a beloved annual tradition in Lynwood, uplifting the community, promoting healthy, active lifestyles, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all students.
